Jon's "CMGI has some slight interest in GeoCities" is understatement at best. CMGI is one of Geocities' principal and founding shareholders. Which means its interest in Geocities doesn't show up on its balance sheet, because of its low basis. One of the advantages of owning CMGI is its announced intention to from time to time dividend to its shareholders some of its interests in its companies. I presently hold several dozen shares in LCOS which I received as a dividend on my several hundred CMGI shares. Since issued, they have appreciated three fold and more.

Once Geocities comes public, CMGI will own shares which it will be in a position to distribute to CMGI shareholders as dividends. This may provide additional attraction to the stock if Geocities shares are a success in the marketplace. CMGI also owns substantial portions of other development-stage companies.

Those new to this thread should spend time reading earlier messages. CMGI's rather complex and remarkable story is far more complex than the average single-product stock now touted as a "hot internet stock." CMGI is an Internet venture capital holding company run by very smart people who are deep into the business end of the Net.
