John --

Perhaps you're not aware Amati's FY ends July 31 and when the company says earnings will begin in 1998, they mean Q1, which begins 10 months from now. I spoke to Mr. Carlini yesterday and he emphasized the company would be through the worst of it [losses] by the end of FY '97. To my knowledge no one buys the stock based on its earnings but on its earnings potential. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

Would you throw tomatoes at Pavarotti because he can't paint or ridicule Rauschenberg because he can't sing?

As for your comments about SPYG versus AMTX, I don't get the connection.

Regards,

Pat
