Howdy, howdy,

I'm only involved in one match at the moment. I WAS savoring victory, but then he just wouldn't cooperate. The board is back to somewhat even, but he is a good player. I think I made one bad move, and it was the wrong bad move at the wrong time. Oh well, the fat lady ain't sang yet. I just posted move (45). I'll bet anything it goes to (60) or more. I hate long games.

I got some good news today. A friend I haven't spoken to for about two years called me tonight. He is one of those types that likes to impersonate other people to see if he pull one over on the person he is calling. "Mr. M.B., this is Arther Bottoms with the Internal Revenue Service. M.B., we've scheduled you for an audit in our offices next tues. due to your failure to respond to the two letters we sent you via your p.o. box in the past four months." After he mentioned my p.o. box I said, "So how is everything in Arizona?" Then I hear this laugh on the other end of the line.

We've got an unlisted number and he had been trying to call since returning to K.C.MO. He had been getting some lodging business and was starting to make the business owner upset. He then told me he finally got my number at which point he went into another speel. He finally admitted he had to call his parents to get the number. It was really good to talk to him. Sort of lifted everything off of my shoulders for the rest of the night. Hopefully, he'll be able to make it down this summer when another guy we both went to school with will also be in the area.

For a few years there, we had been getting together and going fishing about every other year. Then he got married, made me mad, and I hadn't talked to him for a couple of years. Passed a "Love ya" back and forth before we hung up. Was good to talk.

Project update: Finished concreting the rock for the bed which borders our circular drive last night. Started filling it with earth this evening. I figure another 9 wheelbarrows of earth for it and then I'll start filling the next one. Better get it done now. In another month I'll be burned out.

Okay, a bag of pretzels it is and I'll even throw in another non to show how generous I am. <gg>

Stay well,

Mike
