Christine, notice how Ted Turner is sure to trumpet his giving of the money instead of doing it quietly with dignity like Bill Gates who's given over $600 million over time so far and to some rather liberal causes too. There are other philanthropists who give very large sums of money w/out all the braggadocio ala Ted Turner. Like other liberals of his ilk he seems to try to assuage his guilt over being rich by brow beating others into being so 'giving' like him. Notice too he is parsing out the billion over 10 years allowing the investment income from the remaining money to partially pay for the 'gift'. It's still a good thing, I hope, since I haven't yet taken the effort to find which causes/groups he's donating the money. halfscot
