stitch: the official soothsayers that read entrails in the dungeons below the big Wall Street brokerages have divined that THE BIG ONE will be preceded by multiple days of trading with volumes like 1.5-2 billion shares, with no change in the indexes. then paralysis and sudden death. I kinda believe this.
Of course, this will be immediately after the CBOE issues Social Security Bankruptcy Futures, Pension Plan Bankruptcy Futures and Executive Compensation Futures. And by this time all companies will be merged into four entities: Microsoft, GE, Merck and Coca-Cola. And Microsoft will be 80% of the world index market cap after consuming all of the world's banks and brokerages, etc, etc.
Microsoft will crash first after publicly admitting that 90% of the accumulated savings of the average American is spent in the last 3 minutes of life and Merck will get more profits than Microsoft.
Suddenly, the yuppies will realize THE TRUTH, like a brick wall that jumped up and hit them.
You can't take it with you.
They all pull their money out- the same day-
the market gives a groaning shudder and collapses.
And for the first time in years, grandchildren will see their ashen-faced grandparents turn off the computer, grab their hand and take them to the park to fly kites and pick daffodils, like they remembered from a time long long ago before there was Microsoft.
