They will manage QoS across the backbone using ATM... which precludes YURI since they do not have an ATM switch. Edges will remain IP as QoS on IP is becoming more and more commonplace.

Furthermore... please stop displaying your lack of understanding of this market...

he believes growth will pick up through the rest of the calendar year, driven by strong demand for ATM technology, layer 3 switches
and remote-access products.

RAS refers to modem head-ends being installed by ISP's for support of dial in users... Not remote ATM CPE....

Here's where your article states the growth is..

While unit demand appears to be healthy - particularly for carrier ATM switches and LAN switches - the industry has been facing heavy pricing pressure, analysts agreed.

In fact this article's thrust is that layer 3 switches are the threat to the incumbents. At no point in the article does it discuss ATM CPE... It mentions ATM technology in general terms and uses specifics with regard to ATM switches for carrier infrastructure. The battle at the edge will be a layer 3 battle - not ATM. ATM CPE will get some business, but as I've stated multiple times, the market for ATM CPE will continue to shrink and competitors in this space will make YURI's life more and more difficult.

Anyone wanna lay odds on this? This time next year YURI should be sold or else... I'm in, but only until Sept..
