More bad news for the semis. Yesterday Cirrus Logic announced they would lay off approx. 13% of their 3500 employees after hiring 1000 new last year in expansion. They also stated they expected a "significant" 4th Qrtr loss in contrast to a statement a month ago they may have a loss. Their is speculation that other semis may follow suit with layoffs. Cirrus logic is heavily dependent on PC market demand. They dropped 1.25 to 18.625 from a high of 40.75 in Nov. I guess this means there will be another "buying opportunity" as we have all heard so much in the last 2 mos. This term is almost becoming a cliche. Still in it for the short and long term.
