TTSOBT. I agree that INTEL is ahead of its competitor. I think before anyone dumps INTC stock they should think WHAT IF Intel does something unthinkable in 5 years that will blow us away. I am not so worried about AMD or Cyrix trying to gain market share from INTEL. In fact, I would love to see AMD control 30% of the market.. That is actually healthy for INTEL. But they never will even with an IBM alliance. Intel is just too far ahead of its time. I think INTEL's problems are not solely on market share, competition, lower sales, currency crisis in Asia, price pressure etc...... The market tends to have a love/hate relationship with INTEL. When things are great, they inflate the price and when things are bad due to the above, they choke the stock. I think most fund managers are eager to see big returns in their portfolios so holding INTEL drags them down.

INTEL's biggest challenge is trying to find out where they will be 10 years from now. Take Gillette which I consider a rather common stock, have made numerous changes from say 10 years ago; even Gillette looks good now. Question is: What kind of company will INTC be 5-10 years from now. I hope they are not worried about seaonsonal price cuts, competition eating them away, maintaining healthy margins etc........ those worries will NEVER go away and WILL in fact get worse. What they need to worry is how well are they positioning themselves for the next round of tech. revolution/evolution. With thousands of PHDs at INTEL along with Grove and Barrett, I think we all should think thwice before dumping INTEL.........
