Ray:

From today's lists, REGN and MTRA. REGN was on our old list and popped today. It had popped earlier, just after we discussed it, and subsequently settled back. MTRA has been on the list solidly for the past week. A urine test for monitoring bone resorption has not commanded much respect. However, I feel that it will. More importantly, they have an ultrasound device in development to measure bone density. They are not first to market, but posts at the Biotech Rumor Mill indicate that it is a very competitive instrument.

Other good biotechs that I've seen on the list in the past week or so...... IMCL, NSTK, RIBI, SEQU, VION, RZYM, CEGE, MTRA, ARDM, CTAL (honorary biotech), GLIA (on our old list, popped already), TCEL, and HYSQ (old list, popped already). Looking at the chart, it looks like I blew it in not mentioning IMCL when I saw it on the list. Ditto for TCEL which has been on a PR blitz (BTW, the work being hyped is backed up by small molecule projects with RGEN and ARQL, a sound and relatively aggressive approach).

A friend just bought VION for a very interesting reason.... they are developing a synthetic melanin for use in cosmetic products. They also have a cancer chemotherapeutic in phase III testing, partnered with Boehringer Ingelheim, and antivirals. However.... *if*.... they can show that the melanin gives an even tan and can be produced in a cost-effective fashion..... I could see them garnering a lot of attention for this project.

So..... for no particular reason and submitted for your perusal..... MTRA, VION, IMCL, NSTK and CEGE. Honorable mention to those from our old list...... GLIA, REGN and HYSQ.

No disclaimers necessary.... I don't currently own any of the issues mentioned above........ sold the last of my REGN today into the rally (no negative thoughts, just allocation issues..... wanted to buy more MLNM, SIBI and ARQL). Have also recently owned HYSQ, GLIA and NSTK. Thinking about MTRA and VION.

Cheers! Rick
