Thank you and Ray Noorda for acting on our behalf at Novell's annual meeting.
I hope you can stay with us at least for another year and that we will all prosper together.

Let's set a goal of $20 per share by this time next year, and $50 a year later. Then we can tell the directors that's what we expect of them. A goal is not the same thing as a target. We can all work toward a goal; a target is just wishful thinking.

If the stock price doubles in a year there won't be any need for a class action lawsuit, will there? The lawyers can take their pound of flesh and we can all go home, keeping in mind the rest of the story: the lawyers are not entitled to a single drop of our blood! I will not join any class action lawsuit. That can only harm the company. The Noorda approach will help Novell.

I've never been comfortable with trying to remove the entire board. No matter how inept the players are, that kind of move will appear disruptive and will probably hurt the stock price. Noorda's recommendation to remove four board members is more reasonable. We have a year to work at it. We can deal with one director at a time.

Director Larry Sonsini's e-mail address is:
lsonsini@wsgr.com

I sent Sonsini an e-mail on March 25, 1998, but have not received a reply. Perhaps he will respond to what others have to say. He works for US.
