I've done some research into the patents and found out a couple of things. The person who started the suit is Kurt L. Van Voorhies. He was a graduate student at W.V.U. and is named with James E. Smith as inventors of the toroidal antenna in patent #5442369 issued 12/15/92 and assigned to W.V.U. The second patent for the contrawound antenna #5654723, listed as inventors Smith, Craven, and Prinkley with W.V.U. as assignee issued 6/7/95. The third patent for the Contrawound toroidal helical antenna "C.T.H.A." 35734353, listed Kurt Van Voorhies as inventor with VorteKx P.C. as assignee and was issued on 3/31/98. The thing that is wierd is that if you read the patent summary on the gov,t's website for patents is that it is mentioned in patent #2 that the antenna may be helical in shape. If this guy is looking for money I think it can only be a small part because his patent is based on two previously patented ideas by W.V.U. The only thing that bothers me is that W.V.U. does not hold the patent for the C.T.H.A. by name. But that will be for the attorneys to decide. good luck, bob
