I found the Post's article almost comical. They quoted two professors of ethics. The implications of these quotes was that the Panutan deal has ethical implications that are perhaps too much for the Majors to stomach. So, I guess Placer will say, "We are not touching this huge, low cost deposit, it just might taint our ethical image." Professors as usual are in another world.

Granted, this deal does have ethical implications and the Majors need to consider the negatives of dealing with and associating with Panutan/Government, but these effects are not nearly enough to stop any Major from bidding for the deposit.
