Hey bateh,

I did a little investigation yesterday at my local computer shop.
I found some interesting stuff. I saw piles of Jaz and Zip stuff.
I saw a fair amount of Syquest. I saw zero LS-120...

1) I think Syquest is dead in the water. They can't turn a profit
now so when things get a little tough, they will go under.

2) Zip and Jaz are steady, although not flying off the shelf.

The only thing that worries me is Imation's deep pockets. They can
afford years of losses to win the game. The backwards compatibility
to a 3 1/2 is really great, and their quality control has always been
excellent. I have always preferd 3M (now Imation) disks to any
others on the market.

What does everyone think about this situation? Can Imation pull it
off this late in the game? One thing that worries me is that the
LS-120 can fit a notebook. Is there a Zip drive that can fit a laptop
yet, will there be? Can anyone who has studied some Econ tell me
what a pure numbers crunch would say about this situation?

Just call me, the Nervous Investor...
