The following is a stement made by Jurgen E. Schrempp, Chief Executive Officer of Daimler-Benz,
"Sales won't be affected in 1998 by this technology," Schrempp said. " If we achieve what we project, I think we can go into serious production for cars sometime in 1999 or 2000."

This statement is very interesting, especially if you combine it with the following remark made by Ford Chairman Alex Trotman.

" With our collaborative efforts, we think we can ACCELERATE (caps are mine) the commercial viability and implementation of fuel cell vehicles."

The date that has been used in most press releases to date is 2003 or 2004. My spin on all this is that they are aiming to have cars on the road in the year 2000...the turn of the century. A lot of exciting things will happen in the year 2000...this could be one of them.
