Shalom, the Bible was written by a whole lot of people

over several hundred years
.

My dear Christine, the Bible was written by just a small special group of hand picked servants of God. And it was done in quite a bit more of a time span than just several hundred years. It would be more accurate to say several thousand years.

If you want to take it literally you cannot, because some of the Gospels contradict each
other.

Christine you have been led astray again.

I can infact take it literally and do, because the word of God is alive! And in fact there are no contradictions. None. And especially you Christine, who does not know the Bible, nor the God of the Bible, would be very hard pressed to declare any contradictions.

But in all fairness and sincere tolerance of your concerns, I would be glad, as would many others here, to help you understand any seemingly contradictory statement that you may want to bring to our attention after you have studied the Bible with a sincere heart.

As we get further away from Jesus' death, the story becomes more distorted, as
Jesus' followers are trying to keep their little Jewish sect together, and interested in the
Jesus' story.

Again Christine you falter. The only distortions of the word of God come from those who are truly and utterly confused.Those who say, as you do, that the Bible is a corrupt document.

2 Cor 4:1-12
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Quite a lot of the Bible is pure marketing, Shalom!!

And God will take that which is bad and turn it into good for His Glory!

Rom 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;

Christine your frustrations are not with anyone here, the unrest you are experiencing comes from within. You are free to choose what it is that will be your lot in life, it appears you have chosen. I wish you well in your decision, I have no argument with you or your beliefs, because I am at peace with mine.

So Christine you see, whether or not you extend to me that same level of tolerance, will have no effect on my relationship with my Lord, Jesus the Christ. No effect at all.

My Lord Jesus died for the sins of the world. One can choose to believe this and be at peace with the fact that he/she is now reconciled with God, or one can find this saying as just part of a corrupt document, and continue to search for peace, which may at times, seem quite elusive.

I have made my decision and I am at total peace with it. You have made yours. I find it very curious that you cannot let it be. Christine I really do wish you well in all that you do. Maybe another time, another place, we will meet again. Right now I must be about my Father's business.

Sincerely,
Shalom...><>
