JP - Apples & Oranges Amati & SPYG

It is no longer the Right Fielder, but the fans in the upper tier that can tag you OUT!

ADSL and specifically DMT (Discrete Multitone Technology) is not a technology, "that is re-designed every few years, and sold over and over again" to the PC owners of the world like a browser such as IE3.0 , as per your example of SPYG.

There are not to many things that can pump data down twisted pair copper wire at 9 megabit per second (ADSL) and 60 Megabits per second VDSL @ 1000 feet, 12mbps at 6000 ft.

Each one of the 700 million cooper gold twisted pair (CGTP) is a potential customer to the Telcos of the world.

1. Internet Access
2. Internet Service Providers (ISP)
3. Video On Demand (VOD)
4. Broadcast Video (yes the telcos can become the cable companies to the world)
5. HDTV(opps, I did'nt mean to mention that yet)
6. Not to mention the spin-offs of the above, Video games, Shopping, Gambling etc.

Now I really don't see SPYG out there making deals with Motorola and NEC and TI, and globe trotting, talking to all of the telcos of Europe.

Selling lemonade to MSFT, is not the same as owning the Lemon tree.

Your comparisons like your research are way off base.
