interest in it is that the volatility will be compressed into a few days, so there shouldn't be
too much loss of time value.

Tom,

You may be looking at a short straddle to protect up and down moves. I was thinking of a long straddle with no protection except the time premium which presently would add to 14 points. One would have to go out to May for that. Were you just thinking of buying Calls to protect the upside? If that is the case, go long against the box.
