So working backwards from that and assuming an attainable share price of say 30(another nice round number) you wind up with about 16.7 million shares. Rounded up to nearest whole number for good measure - 17mil. I think you misunderstood the stock option definition. Any stock option has its exercise option price. Here we define as the close price on 4/22/98. It probably is around $28 - $32 (assumption). When the stock reaches $40 by year end, the CEO has 17mx(40-30) = $170m. Based on S&P 500 compensation survey by CNBC, the toppest one, Travelers CEO has about 208m annual pay. I still believe Q2 got to be outstanding to provide such a pay scale for Jobs. Phil
