vladimir--
i wish i could give more details, but i dont really have them. its from the test that was posted maybe 50-100 messages back. i think it was from avalon.
in the report, they basically said that the USR was a decent performer, just that it was difficult to set up and use.
i think 3com is using AWRE technology, but am not really sure. what i am sure of is that WSTL has a very good product that can hold its own in the market. in addition, i think with the dovatron manu agreement, we can also be much more competitive on price.
well, looks like our boy in NYC didnt do too good a job. miller from intel and kagan associates both made some big comments on cable modems beating out ADSL. projections were for about 60 million combined subscribers by 2006, with 26 million using ADSL. this is pretty typical stuff from analysts who dont have much else to do but extrapolate way too far into the future.
what they have failed to take into account is that the cablecos have had a pretty easy time getting into high speed access because they dont have to jump through the regulatory hoops that the RBOCs do. now, when (not if) that changes, the playing feild will be much more level. i will be glad when the telcos stop fighting each other over vox service which is pretty moot, especially the LD side.
good luck to all, trey |
