ENGLEWOOD, Colo., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Tempo Satellite, Inc. (TEMPO), the wholly owned subsidiary of TCI Satellite Entertainment (TSAT) (Nasdaq: TSATA, TSATB), filed with the FCC on Friday, April 3, 1998 to extend its license for use of 11 frequencies at the 119 degree orbital position. These frequencies are scheduled to be used by PRIMESTAR, Inc. to launch a 120-channel, high-value television entertainment product for use with an 18-inch satellite dish. While PRIMESTAR's service for the 119 degree position is ready for immediate launch, PRIMESTAR has chosen to hold the launch of this service, based upon discussions with the FCC. Tempo and PRIMESTAR have two separate pending applications with the FCC to transfer licenses at the 119 degree location from Tempo and at the 110 degree location from MCI to PRIMESTAR, respectively.
