Is it going to be that easy to levy a fee on Internet telephony? And even if it is, the telecom industry has shown that new technology moves much more quickly than governments can in protecting old semi-monopolies whose technology has become outdated.

There have been two very big forces behind this fantastic economic situation one is that a whole bunch of new technology has arrived and is growing away without any government assistancor interference and secondly this new technology has produced unbeliveable productivity gains. To the extent that the FCC starts to interfere with that free market it will only serve to reduce those economic benefits that are currently propelling this economy to even greater wealth creation.

If the baby bells or anyone else can't compete well thats capitalism thats our system and the less interference the better it works. That has been the lesson of the last eighteen years.
