PC graphics accelerator technology and add-in board king Diamond Multimedia Systems (Nasdaq:DIMD - news) fell $2 1/8 to $12 1/2 after reporting fiscal Q1 EPS of $0.22, which beat the First Call mean estimate by $0.03. However, the company warned that it expects "some pricing pressure" in fiscal Q2 ahead of the launch of next-generation products in fiscal Q3. The price squeeze cited by the company is partly due to the increasingly competitive PC sales environment. The advent of the sub-$1000 PC has original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) jockeying for lower rates from graphic board suppliers like Diamond. The company will generate some additional revenues in the short-term from its newest OEM client, Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq:DELL - news), which has largely remained above the sub-$1000 fray, but the road ahead is still full of potholes.

People on this board should be careful in analyzing CREAF's future prospects given the market's response to DIMD's increased earnings today. Past quarter earnings may mean nothing -- its all based on future earnings. What this means for CREAF is debatable. I am long CREAF not short. Let's hope CREAF does not include any similar statements in its quarterly report.

Similarly SOLLY went down over $5 yesterday after what sounded like good earnings with no innuendo but recovered almost $5 today. Thus, the initial negative reaction to DIMD earnings may be overcome next week.

Will CREAF hold a conference call?
