Shoe - not to disagree with your general points here, but I think it's worth pointing out that these people are being sued specifically for their activities in soliciting proxies over the internet and not simply for speaking against the fund in question.

In any case, though, the whole business is revolting.

I think some of this comes out of the internet technology (forums in particular), which securities laws have not caught up with as yet.

I'll bet the Dryers are paying attention to this case.
