Why is it that you folks in the south think we folks in the north are nothing but a bunch of tree-hugging, save-the whales, freakin' Greenpeacer liberals? Even San Francisco has huge pockets of conservatives. Our Contra Costa County rivals your Orange County, and most everyone there thinks William F. Buckley Jr. is a nice guy but too much of a bleeding-heart liberal. Have you ever heard of Rossmoor, Contra Costa County's retirement community? It's a major voting bloc that has been known to swing local and state elections. Rossmoor is a political force to be reckoned with. There's only one political party in Rossmoor, and it starts with an "R." Even Bezerkely has turned stridently conservative in recent years. Only Santa Cruz (widely known as the world's largest open-air insane asylum) remains to justify the California myth that seems to persist throughout Southern California (that part of the State that starts just below Oxnard) and the rest of the world.

Blow up Hetch Hetchie? I don't think so. Besides, where would you southern folks steal your water from if we did?

I just read your post about Southerners and Yankees. I've heard that another and equally valid defense for murder down there is, "He didn't need to live no more."
