Staying power....

Battlezone debuted at #5 the week it came out but then fell off the top ten list for the following week.

Ever notice this about Activision? This frustrates me no end. They spend the time and effort to make a great product but once it's released, it's an orphan never to be heard from again until an expansion pack is made. Look at what happened to Dark Reign, Hexen II, I'76, Battlezone, Shanghai, etc., etc.

It's as if ATVI undergoes a self-fulfilling prophecy of first believing that products have short cycles and then not doing anything to boost sales except to constantly cut the price and offer rebates. That in turn, makes it seem like the game is headed for the bargain bin and then people lose interest.

What is a great game if no one plays it?!

Why not host some tournaments? Pass out prizes, generate a little excitement? Put up a scoreboard so that people can see how they stand against others. DO something!

This is why I have come to believe that ATVI's marketing dept is crap.
