Good Morning Everyone,
This is a sober day for me as I always read Psalm 22 and cry as I remember the suffering my best friend endured on this day.
I will share some things about Passover if you have comments please share and if I am repeating what you know please reflect upon it.
The start is in Exodus 12. First the year calendar for Passover year is different from Rosh Hashannah ( feast of Trumpets)and starts on the 1st day of Nissan. This moves the sabbaths to start on the first day of Nissan. God calls all Feast days Sabbaths then on the 10th day they were to chose a lamb to bring into their homes for 4 days. This 10th day was the Triumphal entry as the Passover lamb for the World. This lamb was to be without blemish or defect. 1 Peter 1:18-19 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but the precious blood of Messiah a lamb without blemish or defect Then in Numbers 9:12 they must not leave any of it till morning or break any of it's bones Verse 14 An alien living among you who wants to celebrate the Lord's Passover must do so in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for the alien and native born. (All people of the earth were always welcome by God only in His way not their own way )His legs were not broken but His side was torn and His body was not left till morning.
Back to Exodus 12 in verse 11 you see Yeshuas washing of the feet of the disciples.
Exodus 12;11 This is how you are to eat it; with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste it is the Lord's Passover.
John 13:4 so He got up from the meal, took off His outer clothing (cloak) and wrapped a towel around His waist. After He poured water into the basin and began to wash His disciples feet drying them with the towel wrapped around Him.
God told the people in the first Passover to put on sandals and when the deliverance that began that night was completed He removed their sandals and washed their feet. Ceremonial washing is a part of the Passover Seder and it was at this time in the Seder that Yeshua washed their feet.
I have to go to work now but will continue later. May the Lord bless all as we reflect on His incredible sacrifice for us all.
Nancy

P.S. Exodus 12:14 This is a day you are to commemorate for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord- a lasting ordinance.
The Church has kept this ordinance but have called it Easter as a sign of their denial of the roots of the faith.
