Was out of the office at the time of the conference call, but from what I heard, the best news was that everything was AS EXPECTED. The street loves to see what they expect...no huge surprises. Congrats to Ashby for a good job to this point. Now, that being said, I don't think there was enough positive news to make the shorts run for the doors (which I was hoping for). Anyone can pick specifics of the CC and make a case for their long OR short position. But, I'd have to say the positives FAR outweigh the negatives. However, the "easy money" has been made in this stock.
I'm not much of a trader--don't want to be, but I'd say the earnings trend looks good and we'll possibly see some of the estimates, which were on the lower end of the range for the year, raised. The analysts' comfort level has got to be increasing in leaps and bounds and with ASND remaining one of the stronger companies in the networking sector, I'd imagine new money will start to flow into the stock. Just hope the market holds up where we can reap the benefits of what looks to be a strong '98.
Oh, and even though I sold 1/2 my shares at 37 1/2 (i think it was a 1/2), I'm very comfortable with my existing shares (purchased at 32 1/2...the one's sold were purchased at 23 1/2--for the record). If we sell-off for some unknown reason, I'll be looking to buy back the other 1/2. regards, greg |
