WDC seems to not be competing on price with Seagate, Quantum, and certainly not with Fujitsu (who can?). I just bought a 6.4 Gb DMA drive, and went with Seagate in spite of being a holder of WDC. I wonder what the lack of price competitiveness indicates...

Two ideas I have are that (1) WDC has scaled back production of these drives while prices are low (any chance of that?), and (2) that WDC has had such good demand for these drives that they are sending most of them to the oems.

Any other thoughts?

Randy
