Re: market reaction to announcement. If you compare the combined valuation (i.e. sum of market caps) assigned to CNC and GNT, before and since the announcement, it is almost unchanged (as in, down by a fraction of a percent --- using numbers from Yahoo). I'd say (1) people are not convinced that the deal will go through, or the ratio of prices would be much closer to 0.91 (another factor which would devalue GNT shares to some small extent is the $52 ceiling), and (2) people don't see a lot of synergy, or the combined valuation ought to show some increase. Comments/agreements/disagreements/clarifications welcome. PLS
