Syquest Iomega Sony Castlewood

The arrogance of that European Iomega manager in the "Superfloppy" article is a perfect example of the reason why IOM is held with such disdain by the Street, and is also the reason why Sony will hand Iomega's head to them this Summer. That is when Sony is due to roll out the HiFi drive, acccording to the article.

I would not be invested in ANY removable drive stocks right now. The competition is just going to be a bloodbath with Castlewood and Sony entering the fray. Castlewood is shipping beta units right now, and this is very bad news for Syquest and Iomega. Sony's HiFi Summer release is bad news more so for Iomega.

Castlewood's ORB already has one official OEM lined up- in one of Sanyo's digital audio recorders. One can bet that Sony's HiFi drive stands a very good chance of being Standard Equipment on every single computer Sony makes right out of the bat.
