Floatation in some cases, and leaching in others. The problem is that, to my knowledge, GPGI has not developed a leaching process that take out only the gold in one step and then the PGM in another. The S-A have developed some very sophisticated sequential precipitation processes (which if not done right can result in some minor explosions, I am told), but to my knowledge, they have never attempted extraction of both gold and the PGM from the same ore body. In terms of their genesis, PGM ores need the opposite conditions to form and concentrate than gold deposit require.
