JDN Subj: Typo by Yahoo re: Coherent Date: 98-04-10 13:05:50 EDT From: peter_schuman@cohr.com To: citron@nauticom.net, nicewong@aol.com Dear Investors, I also noticed the typo by Yahoo saying "Third Quarter" when the story should read "Second Quarter". Repeatedly tried to reach Yahoo, but to no avail. Correct headlines ran on all the other wires, but I believe they typed in the headline themselves. In any case, we expect a strong third quarter. On the medical side of our business, we began shipping Epic, our newer ophthalmic product, late in the quarter as well as our Help G product. Help G is a new aesthetic product for leg veins e.g. varicose veins and spider veins that we believe is going to be a hit. Also, hair removal orders are very strong. We took $5 million in orders in Palomar's new diode hair removal product, LightSheer, in two weeks. None of those shipped in the second quarter but are currently shipping. Palomar is the only laser company with FDA approval for a diode hair removal product, and a nice product it is! The electro optic side of our business is also doing well. Lambda Physik (see their web site releases) took in an order for $6.7 million from Japan Steel Works for its LAMBDA 4000 high power excimers. These lasers are all shippable within the next twelve months. Our laser group is still ramping on the Verdi lasers and we have a product called Vitesse which is going into the world's first DUV inspection product. We have told the Street over the past 6 months that we expect a stronger second half to fiscal '98. Now it's up to us to deliver.
