RWilson: I am not way high in my estimates. They are based on a consensus mean estimate of 21 analysts for fiscal year 98 and 15 analysts for fiscal year 99. Moreover, the International Tobacco business is in its early stages of take off- considering the Russian Market has not even begun to be tapped yet. I think your estimates ( that you follow in part from Merill Lynch ) are way to low and based on Fear of the impending settlement or punitive damages that some members of Congress would like to enact. We are in a state here of maximum pessimism in regard to MO. Your analysis reflects this despair. I think you will be surprised: MO has doubled bottomed, technically speaking, and the stock ( although it may meander for a while ) has no where else to go but up.
The one question you claim never got answered was answered by me, but not to your theoretical satisfaction. Sorry, but some questions are not dealt with or resolved on that level, as there is no clear cut answer and some business decisions look for solutions that are not circular. Good luck.
