Valid point that Stratacom division of Cisco have been generating revenue comparable to that of the whole ASND (including Cascade business). However,I expect things to change quickly in the next few quarters since the new ATM/FR switch from ASND is simply awsome,supporting very nice QOS differentiation and OC48 bandwidth (2.4 Gbps) which nobody else can claim to right now. Garrick. I would expect that CSCO/STRM has something "up their sleeve on this as well". I hear tell of a something in June/July. This trend (of vendors selecting ASND switches) is evidenced by the various contract wins at GTE, ATT,Willliams ,QWST and a few European telecom companies. I have folks on this thread point out carrier wins to me, but each vendor gets some wins..that's why there are mulitple vendors. I won't waste the threads time by posting each carrier's vendor of choice..but they are not all ASND, nor are they all CSCO...nor would I expect them to be. Below is just a sampling..I skipped many other good service provider type releases. But, note the breadth of environments that Cisco is placed in...environments that ASND doesn't play in..cable, multiservice, enterprise, etc... This is what makes Cisco different and why investors place a higher valuation on the stock. It's more broadly positioned...and they still compete with ASND in the backbone environments.
