While I haven't been to the hinterlands since Christmas, Vancouver doesn't seem to be affected noticeably. The local news reports show shutdowns at many mills and/or layoffs. Apparently B.C. is in or heading for a recession, but as our business is 85% out of province and no longer forestry related, I have no direct knowledge of the state of affairs.

One thing that I have learned over the years (I am long in tooth) is that media reported recession does not necessarily reflect the true state of the forest economy. While the figures presented are dismal for the moment, the forest industry tends to be seasonal and cyclic anyway, and those involved within it, tighten and loosen their belts accordingly.

How is the economy down your way?

Regards,

JBS
