Because their chip to chip interface DRAM product is being adopted as the next memory standard...Intel has endorsed it, as well as NEC, IBM, LSI and a list of others....Check out Rambus.com and learn more.... I am now just reading the Gorilla Game, but as I understand it, if Rambus technology is adopted as next PC-100 memory standard, then everyone else will have to build infrastructure around this chip design....I am not a Phd in semicinductors, but I have been reading a lot and researching...Interesting stuff....
