( BW)(SYSTEMSOFT)(SYSF) SystemSoft's MobilePRO, PC Card software
ships in PictureTel's breakthrough portable videoconferencing system

Business/Technology Editors

NATICK, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 1996--

Adoption by world's first compact videoconferencing system
demonstrates system-level software's flexibility,
expanded market potential

SystemSoft Corporation (NASDAQ:SYSF), a leading provider of
system-level software for the embedded systems market, today
announced that its core BIOS and PC Card configuration software
products are shipping with PictureTel Corporation's (NASDAQ:PTEL)
SwiftSite(TM), the world's first truly portable videoconferencing
system. PictureTel unveiled SwiftSite on Oct. 15 and has already
received 1,000 orders for the system.

SwiftSite is the industry's first simple, portable and affordable
videoconferencing system designed to connect to and sit on top of the
TV monitor. It is ideal for customers who have not previously used
videoconferencing and for existing customers who will use it in
conjunction with their group and desktop systems. SwiftSite combines
PictureTel's industry-leading, standards-based video and audio
performance in a small, self-contained unit. The system weighs less
than 10 pounds, is about five inches high and 20 inches wide and uses
a single ISDN basic rate interface (BRI) telephone line. SwiftSite's
camera, microphone and video and audio compression components are in
a fully integrated, one-piece design that is easy to install, operate
and transport.

"SystemSoft continues to deliver innovative software technologies
that allow our OEM partners like PictureTel to break new ground in
computing and communications technology," said Robert F. Angelo,
chairman, CEO, and president of SystemSoft. "SwiftSite sets a new
standard for portability and ease-of-use in videoconferencing. By
adapting our software to this unique videoconferencing platform,
SystemSoft not only increases the functionality of PictureTel's TV
top offering, but establishes an exciting and viable new platform for
our leading system-level software solutions."

SystemSoft worked extensively with PictureTel to modify its
widely-adopted MobilePRO(TM) software for SwiftSite that includes
enabling technologies such as integrated firmware and value added
BIOS layers, complemented by SystemSoft's industry-leading PC Card
software.

"SystemSoft's acknowledged leadership in embedded systems and PC
Card software for mobile computers, coupled with its ability to
customize these solutions to meet our specific requirements, made the
company a natural development partner for our new SwiftSite system,"
said Steve Chambers, director of Compact Systems, PictureTel.
"PictureTel traditionally has selected `best-in-class' third- party
software solutions to expand the capabilities of its world-leading
videoconferencing technology. Our engineer-to-engineer relationship
with SystemSoft accomplished this objective and enabled PictureTel to
significantly reduce its time-to-market requirements for SwiftSite."
