Hiya Doug-- you're welcome, and I am still learning lots too!/-- *MEG Morsel Alert* - - - In Richard Boulay's very brief talk on Thurs. aft., he showed several sequenced slides of various volcanoes erupting (eg., Mt.Pelee, Pinatubo, etc), including post-eruption photos of volcanoes. Surrounding the volcanoes are giant 'tuff' rings, and several layers of pyroclastic material (sprawling ash, etc). Image of a kimberlite magmatic system: fagan.stockscape.com
As the volcano erupts, it creates thunderstorms above and below the sections of plume (ash, pyroclastics) as it ejects upward and outward from the volcano's vent (crater). This storm-action on the ash can cause it to bead up (pellets) and have various other re-actions as it precipitates down, depending on nearness to the vent; this can be subsequently discerned from drill samples in the region (studying the stratigraphy, etc). -- This ash-matter can be 'showered' over a wide range, but of course the majority of it, and certainly the thicker horizons, are in the proximal vicinity of the volcano. - - - - - - - - - - - Ergo, If you hit this stuff, you know you're close (or even on top of the volcano- the material is everywhere in the area). Remember that a kimberlite/ lamproite is a type of mantle eruption (a volcano beginning deep below the earth's crust, erupting up through a fissure or fault, bringing with it diamonds if it passes through a diamond stability field). - It was my impression that the CG/MMU drills hit near, or on the source of, the pyroclastic ash that has been encountered. The samples can be studied for more information, including their stratigraphic make-up, mineralogy, etc. My theory:
For one, the reported pyroclastic horizons encountered at 3 separate targets were upwards of 2.5m thick. [Bear in mind that these targets weren't selected at random in the first place. Several overlapping indicators were incorporated in target selection, before drilling. Where we are at now is progressing much beyond that]. We have thus found proof of a volcano in the area.
For two, the same volcanic-ashed core samples from the 3 targets also yielded co-incident green clays and sands. [It is obvious that this would not have been commented on in the release if it were not believed to be significant. These are very responsible companies. Remember too that indicator minerals have been found in the area already (as well as diamonds)]. This green mineral is likely olivine, found only in volcanic material (as I showed in a previous post), and directly-associated with kimberlite.
If those reading the NewsRelease fail to recognize the significance, that's their missed opportunity. -- A comment on "field-confirmation." ANY geologist worth his weight in salt would not make any kind of announcement at the drillsite that kimberlite is suspected, not without a lab analysis & confirmation. There goes a career, either way. No one would hire such a loose-lipped non-professional. This is common knowledge among anyone with any kind of exposure to diamond exploration.
More proof is in the stock's shareprice. It remained stable throughout the drill program. If such comments as to the drill program's showings were intended to hype, we would have seen evident trading behaviour long before anything was officially released in print. Leaks or RUMOURS were not disseminated, nor did crucial info escape. The program was as professional as we could have hoped, tightly sealed. The stock could easily have charged up on this kind of information, but the professionalism was strong, and info was handled with care. -- Now, the company is acting fast, moving forward regardless of whether the market notices! ;) --- Marum et al. are looking for a further understanding, through diamond indicator analysis of core at the lab, new mags, further samplings, etc, as to where they are going- where to drill and with what type of drill. -What an efficient program we've seen so far! Once the new mags are in, field crews will be dispatched to the MMU/MIX properties, to begin, then the 100% MMU land (<where some excellent targets are said to be, some of the best). Once the lab results are in, CG/MMU will be back drilling.
It is evident by the company's recent immediate actions upon their prelim. internal analysis as to what they suspect. They announced as much as they safely could. Do with that information what you wish. Remember this is NOT a paper play. I think some who watch penny stocks regularly have a hard time understanding that. This is a responsible, shareholder serving company.
Take that to the bank!
Cheers, -j :> PS-- so sorry for the length here :} |
