Michael, what you don't see, to understand it that you made what is to most people who are reading this a fairly outrageous claim--that transsexauls are getting sex change operations while they are in prison.
Now I never write things off the top of my head that I cannot prove. I believe someone may have told you this story--it sounds like propaganda from the conservative right to me. If you want to believe things like that, obviously it is your choice to do so.
But if you are going to make allegations like that here at the Feelings thread, you will need to cite some reputable source that can be checked out, if you want to be taken seriously when you say things like that.
I do assume you want to be taken seriously! So, that's the deal. You make the allegation, then you back it up. Unless you can, then we will all assume your statement is untrue, and Penni and Alexa and I will have to give up our dreams of tax-supported plastic surgery after thrilling crime sprees (that don't really hurt anyone, of course), and face the realization that we will be paying for our cosmetic nips and tucks just like everyone else does--out of our own pockets.
Why would the IBD support the tobacco industry? Because it has a very conservative editorial policy. Perhaps the owner has big investments in tobacco stocks. I am not saying that is true, but there are all sorts of reasons someone would write an editorial that is not totally accurate. In fact, that is what editorials are--OPINION.
Now you have not answered my question--if second hand smoke is not dangerous, why is the cancer and heart disease rate so very high for waitresses? And also for people who have lived with smokers but have never smoked themselves? There have been many studies of these groups of people, and I can show them to you.
I would be interested to see the results from the European study discussed in IBD. Do you have it available? Interestingly, I have not read anything about it in the newspapers. Is it brand new yesterday? Surely there should be something in the press.
Why would you think I would be disappointed that we are not all going to die of secondhand smoke? That is illogical to me. What kind of person do you think I am, who would feel that way? |
