Re: LaBrea, I was just thinking, Janice, (!), I wonder if anyone has ever committed suicide by jumping in the pits there. The tar pits. I wonder if you can feel things, if you clank into things, as you go down. Like, feel for sabre teeth. Maybe that thing poking you is a big wooly-rhino tusk. (Keep your eyes shut; it won't do any good to look.) Actually, if you went in in a scuba suit, you could go down until the air ran out, and not get all dirty.
Don't die alone; die with friends.
(It's kind of like jumping into the market.)
I wonder how deep they go down. (The tar pits.) I would like to see a cross section drawing, a vertical "de-elevation". Do they keep going down? Hundreds of feet? Thousand? They must go down more than say twenty feet, or they would have filled up and have bones poking out of the top. Surely there must be a human down in there somewhere, maybe stuck in the jaws of an angry mastodon; or with his ancient woven-sagebrush sandals tied together. (Just above his wallet?) They should get those guys who found the Titanic to go down there. They could do it, with some kind of acoustic camera.
MAYBE there are ALIENS in there. With their shoes tied together. |
