Regarding your statement, "Japan is now looking more like a key to our markets, ..." I've been hearing that philosophy often recently. Whenever I hear it, a question comes to my mind. Perhaps you would provide some insight.

For the last 8 years, the Japanese market (and economy?) has been acting like a dying dog. It has gone down more than 60% and is still languishing near its lows. During that time, the U.S. market has gone through what may be the greatest bull market of all time. My question is:

Why, after all this time, would Japan suddenly start to have a major impact on the U.S. market?
