Hi GB,
You seem to have restricted your discussion of reality to the more romantic aspects of cyberlife. But didn't Carol bring up the reality of ideas as one of her possibilities? Ideas exist outside of physical reality anyway, so they don't lose identity, change their meanings, become something else, when communicated electronically. Perhaps they're even more "pure" because they're transferred without the aid of a pretty face or in a basso profundo tone or by a charismatic personality. And why would an 'idea of grandeur' be any less grand because it springs from an overbearing or even unpleasant ego? Is it not the idea that is important?
No one sees reality in quite the same way as anyone else. We may have to stretch or rework our personal definitions to accommodate this new medium, but the medium seems to me most definitely to have--reality.

I really enjoyed your 90-Day Syndrome, but my, you are cynical!
