*MEG Morsel Alert*
Donald Sheldon (of PUG), also in his Thurs. talk, layed out some numbers for people to consider. Recent statistics show that $140 million is spent in Canada per year in Diamond exploration. About $138million of that is spent in the NWT... - - - This indicates there may be a lot more money to come to Alberta!
In his enjoyable presentation, Donald Sheldon expressed the economics of Alberta over the NWT, with AB being cheaper right from the word, "Go!". In the NWT, you have to physically stake land claims. That is very costly. In AB, Sheldon points out, PUG has staked over 52million acres of land, at a total cost of only $2million ('Desk'-staking).
Beyond that, DS expounds, the NWT requires extensive till sampling and analysis for indicator minerals and such for eventual target I.D. This is a lengthy (years) and expensive undertaking. Sheldon explained that so far in AB the airborne surveys have been highly effective in identifying preliminary drill targets (again due to the surrounding lithography and less kimberlitic erosion), over a period of only months.
- Sheldon offered these figures: LTL spent $100million in the NWT, and found 9 pipes. PUG spent $23million in the NWT, and found 4 pipes.
In AB, PUG (for the ACA jv earn-in) spent $0.5million and found 7 kimberlites. - Then, Ashton spent a total of $6.0million, and found 16 K's...
How do you like them apple$ ?! ;)
-more to come!
-j :>
PS, earlier, when I said that J.Auston reported that only crater facies have been found thus far by Ashton, we can safely conclude then that no diatreme facies have yet been encountered . . . . |
