They no longer work for AT&T so they have to sell all of their shares in their 401K's for shares in Lucent. The 401K's are being divided when the companies split. I have to say that I'm a current employee of Lucent... I'm hoping that this doesn't qualify for insider info... I guess I should have said that in the other post... anyway... that is the deal. Everyone that went to Lucent with the split has to sell their shares of AT&T before the end of the year for Lucent in their 401K's... To me, this seems like added pressure to purchase, and AT&T has control over when those shares are to be traded. Granted this is just a theory, maybe someone out there with more knowledge of 401K's and their effects on a stock would know better... Good luck everyone.
