Greta Mc: Thanks for your kind response. My comments weren't necessarily directed to you as much as some of the negative and unconstructive criticism seen earlier.

Where I live, I tend to appreciate CNBC more. On the mainland, accessibility was easy. Upon our arrival her we found the tape and news necessary to continue to successfully manage our investments. We really felt the loss. Five weeks after subscribing to Alpha Star, it went Chapter 7. Total loss. Local cable only had 8 to 9 hours a day with continuous interruptions and not very dependable. An editorial appeared in the local paper complaining CNBC was taking channel space instead of the cartoon network. Another $2000 later, we installed and subscribed to another service. Try a 14ft dish in a high wind area.

As an experienced investor, I have learned to look past some of the 'beginner level' programming of CNBC. However, they keep me informed not only to the tape, but the tone of the market. As DELL and INTC seem to be favorites, look at the quantities of the most active list, topics in the WSJ, IBD, etc. and I can understand why they stay with the flow. In the final analysis, their in it for the ratings. I'm in it for the profitable investments, and many times the two compliment each other.

In summary, CNBC and others are with the times. They perform a service for investors who by necessity must manage their retirement funds. Life time employment is no longer encouraged. Moving from job to job creates 'portability' which equals an investment in a 4 wheel drive or a retirement future. CNBC helps define the difference.
