X, I don't think there is much doubt about it. Smoking does cause allot of extra death and suffering. I still have my serious doubts whether second hand smoke does though. One thing interesting about smoking. A disproportionate amount of smokers are the working poor. So when we raise taxes on a pack of cigarettes we have in effect taxed the poor. Yes, they could quit, but in most cases they won't. They will just pay more for a pack of cigarettes and probably have less money for food for their children.. Another cause and effect relationship the liberal media would just as soon not think or talk about. But I'm sure their answer will be, let's just expand the school lunch program and open the schools for dinner too. Michael
