IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 1996-- Startronix International Inc and Eyetel Technologies Inc announced today that they have formed a strategic alliance to develop VidCall,
a proprietary, customized, scaleable video teleconferencing service for StarTronix's Internet screen-phone, StarScreen(TM).
VidCall is scheduled to be available in the first quarter of 1997. The companies made the announcement at the 16th Annual Teleconferencing Users Conference and Trade Show in Anaheim, Calif. where, on Oct. 31, at Booth 107, the companies will be demonstrating the use of
the StarScreen and the new VidCall service.
StarTronix began delivery this month of the new StarScreen(TM) to its rapidly growing ranks of independent distributors, now numbering more than 15,000. New distributors are signing up at the rate of more than 1,500 each week.
Over the past year, StarTronix evaluated a variety of competing video teleconferencing solutions to be used to enhance the StarScreen Internet Terminal with live, point-to-point dial-up analog as
well as Internet-enabled, digital-video teleconferencing capabilities. Based on the results of the evaluation, StarTronix selected EyeTel's flexible software architecture as the preferred platform for development of VidCall.
