Ancestoral backgrounds are unfamiliar to me. Had I not heard my great -grandmother speak german, I would not have had any former country of origin to identify with. There were no traditional dishes, no traditions what so ever near as I can ever remember. So families such as your own I find curious when it comes to traditions. Otherwise, it is only the tv from which to get such information.
