"As far as I'd heard/read from techno people, Win98 isn't going to be a hot seller because it really doesn't offer anything new in addition to Win95. It is going to be more like bug fixes to Win95 with IE and Active Desktop plus support for new hardware."

I know very little about W98, and no doubt the market for the upgrade won't be as initially strong as it was for W95 (which thankfully replaced W3.1). But as more new PC's with W95 show up, the upgrade cycle will start to roll, especially within corporate environments.

Among the obvious things that some people (granted, not the average user) will appreciate are:

1. Multiple monitor support (now if I had multiple flatscreen monitors, I'd be interested).
2. Automatic downloading of web site content (probably available today as shareware).
3. (supposedly) significantly faster application launching and system shutdown.
4. etc. (much mention of handling TV signals within the OS -- we's obviously still need the tuner hardware).

In short, it'll be the 'future' for those who don't upgrade, and so long as it's not a bomb of hell for the average user, very many people will want to be there (the future) with W98. I'll have to see it first myself...

Anybody else adding HD space these days? The most likely size for consumers adding IDE capacity seems to be 6.4 Gb. That seems to be the sweet spot for pricing (at ~$200), unless you're happy saving $35 to give up 2.1 Gb of that.
