Berney; RE:" SPDRs, WEBs and Night Owls "

...forgot that you were a night-owl like me {grin}

Of course I know that you are very familiar with SPDRs and all that, Berney. Because so many of the dudes here are international, and for the benefit of any lurkers who are crazy enough to spend their time reading the postings in this sandbox, I posted the info about SPY and WEBs here.

Allocation... Well I was putting up the portfolio on Yahoo as a means of tracking the foreign markets relative to SPY, using simple 100s blocks of each from day one '98 as a reference - and I thought it would be interesting because (this year, anyway) a global portfolio of SPY + WEBS beats the SPDR standalone. It's not a go-go TechStock MIX, but then I cannot imagine a more diversified DIY international fund than one composed of SPY + 17 global indices!

SPY and WEBS pay dividends, Berney, which are probably income taxable. The AMEX says something about "automatic re-investment if your broker supports it", and I don't know if E*TRADE or DATEK, etc. support this feature. Are Dividend Re-Investment Programs such as this taxable ? Might be a good idea to execute a SPY+WEBS strategy in an IRA or something... but to tell the truth, I find that my IRA is the best vehicle for day-trading (because of tax considerations) and I tend to "invest" in another account ( which seems ironic :-)

I've got a rather strong candlestick on the daily and weekly chart for a company called AVT, Berney - Avnet Electronics. They're one of the big OEM component distributors. Curious to know what your F/A engine says about him ?
